A method of producing a tool or die (50a, 50b) from a model (20) that includes producing a rigid mold (30a, 30b) from the model, forming a die shell of the model from a sheet of material (40) in close conforming relationship over the rigid mold (30a, 30b), and applying a reinforcing substrate (60a, 60b) to the die shell on a side of the die shell opposite that of the rigid mold. The applying step is performed while the die shell is still in close conforming relationship with the rigid mold, thereby forming the tool or die from the reinforcing substrate and die shell.
Cette invention se rapporte à un procédé servant à produire un outil ou une matrice (50a, 50b) à partir d'un modèle (20), qui consiste à produire un moule rigide (30a, 30b) à partir dudit modèle, à former à partir d'une feuille de matériau (40) une coquille de matrice de ce modèle, placée en conformation étroite sur le moule rigide (30a, 30b), et à appliquer un substrat de renforcement (60a, 60b) sur la coquille de la matrice d'un côté de la coquille opposé à celui du moule rigide. L'étape d'application du substrat de renforcement s'effectue pendant que la coquille de matrice se trouve placée en conformation étroite par rapport au moule rigide, ce qui permet de former l'outil ou la matrice en question à partir du substrat de renforcement et de la coquille de matrice.
