The present invention provides a method for the isolation of plant-beneficial microorganisms from a soil sample. The soil sample is first incubated in a growth medium having 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate (ACC) as a sole nitrogen source,then the biologically-pure cultures of the microorganisms are recovered from thecolonies formed on the growth medium.
