A method of making a miniature neon lamp electrode having lead, can, and an emitter coating is disclosed. A needle with a quantity of emitter material is advanced into a sleeve. The needle is then spun at high speed to deposit the emitter material on the inside wall of the sleeve. The sleeve is then coaxially crimped to a lead, forming a narrow entrance hollow cathode having an even and specifically positioned emitter coating. The method of making a miniature neon lamp electrode yields a miniature neon lamp electrode capable of withstanding a long life, with many starts, while producing an accurately position arc.
