The present disclosure is directed to a cardiac reinforcement device (CRD) and method for the treatment of cardiomyopathy. The CRD provides for reinforcement of the walls of the heart by constraining cardiac expansion, beyond a predetermined limit, during diastolic expansion of the heart. A CRD of the invention can be applied to the epicardium of the heart to locally constrain expansion of the cardiac wall or to circumferentially constrain the cardiac wall during cardiac expansion.
La présente invention concerne un dispositif de renforcement des parois du coeur et une méthode de traitement de la cardiomyopathie. Ledit dispositif permet de renforcer les parois du coeur en empêchant le coeur de se dilater au-delà d'une limite prédéterminée lors de l'expansion diastolique. Le dispositif décrit dans l'invention peut agir sur l'épicarde du coeur afin de limiter localement l'expansion de la paroi du coeur ou de servir à ladite paroi de barrière circulaire lors de l'expansion du coeur.
