Waste compaction apparatus (2) has a screw conveyor (4) which conveys material along a passage (6) toward an exit nozzle (10) which constricts the flow, to cause compaction. The screw conveyor (4) is slidably mounted on a shaft (300), biased toward the nozzle (10). This allows the screw conveyor to move axially during compaction to help remove or avoid blockages within the apparatus.

L'invention porte sur un appareil de compactage des déchets(2) équipé d'un transporteur à vis (4) qui achemine des matériaux le long d'un passage (6) vers une buse de sortie (10), ladite buse de sortie resserrant les matériaux ainsi débités, ce qui entraîne leur compactage. Le transporteur à vis (4), monté de façon à coulisser sur un manche (300), est orienté vers la buse (10), ce qui lui permet de se déplacer dans le sens axial en cours de compactage. C'est ce déplacement axial qui lui permet de jouer un rôle dans l'extraction, voire l'élimination, des blocages susceptibles de se former à l'intérieur de l'appareil .
