A transformation protocol is described for the particle mediated transformation of soybean. This protocol is based on gene delivery into the growing meristem of a soybean embryo. Prior transformation protocols based on meristematic gene delivery in soybean did not depend on selection due to difficulties in using selection agents in differentiated tissue in soybean. It has been found that a post bombardment culture with glyphosate selection can dramatically increase the efficiency of such a transformation protocol.

L'invention concerne un protocole de transformation, destiné à la transformation de soja, induite par des particules, et consistant à apporter des gènes dans le méristème croissant d'un embryon de soja. Les protocoles actuels de transformation basés sur l'apport de gène mérismatique dans le soja ne dépendent pas de la sélection, étant donné les difficultés liées à l'utilisation d'agents de sélection dans un tissu différencié du soja. On a trouvé que l'on pouvait augmenter de manière très importante l'efficacité d'un tel protocole de transformation dans une culture, après bombardement, qui présente une sélection dépendant du glyphosate.
