The present invention relates to a process for ameliorating or preventing diseases that are caused, in part, by an increased level of, and /or an abnormal responsivity to, interferon. Alzheimer~s disease, HIV infection, Down syndrome, transplant rejection, autoimmune disease, and infant encephalitis are examples of such diseases. Specifically, the invention provides a method for treating subjects suffering from, or at risk for, such diseases by the administration of a pharmacological preparation of interferon binding proteins of mammalian and /or viral origin that antagonized interferon~s action. This invention comprises compositions of interferon binding proteins that can be inhibit the activity of interferon gamma plus interferon alpha such compositions along with their method of production and modification being described herein.
La présente invention concerne une méthode visant à améliorer ou à prévenir des maladies qui sont causées, en partie, par un niveau accru d'interféron et/ou une sensibilité anormale à l'interféron. Parmi ces maladies figurent la maladie d'Alzheimer, l'infection par le VIH, le syndrome de Down, le rejet de greffe, la maladie auto-immune et l'encéphalite infantile. Cette invention concerne en particulier une méthode visant à traiter des sujets souffrant de ces maladies ou à risque de les développer et consistant à administrer une préparation pharmacologique renfermant des protéines de liaison à l'interféron d'origine mammifère et/ou virale qui inhibent l'action de l'interféron. Cette invention concerne également des compositions renfermant des protéines de liaison à l'interféron qui peuvent inhiber l'activité de l'interféron gamma ainsi que celle de l'interféron alpha. Cette invention concerne enfin ces compositions ainsi que leur procédé de production et de modification.
