A solid phase change ink composition that includes at least one colorant and an ink vehicle. The ink vehicle further includes at least one polyhydroxyalkanoate compound of the below formula (see above formula) wherein R is independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbon group, a heteroatom, and combinations thereof, and wherein n represents the number of repeating units of from 1 to about 35,000, and wherein x represents an integer from 1 to about 5.
