According to an embodiment of the invention, there is disclosed a method for geographically locating a cellular device. The method comprises: determining an effective cell~area for each of a first cell and a second cell in a cellular network; and determining a handover area within which the cellular device is likely to be located when control of the cellular device is transferred from the first cell to the second cell; wherein the determination of the handover area and the effective cell-area for each of the first cell and the second cell are made based on a topological relationship between the first cell and the second cell. Further related apparatus embodiments are also disclosed.

L'invention concerne, dans un mode de réalisation, un procédé servant à localiser géographiquement un dispositif cellulaire. Ce procédé consiste à: déterminer une zone effective pour une première cellule et une deuxième cellule respectives de réseau cellulaire et déterminer une zone de transfert dans laquelle le dispositif cellulaire est susceptible d'être localisé quand le contrôle de ce dispositif cellulaire est transféré depuis la première cellule jusqu'à la deuxième cellule, la détermination de la zone de transfert et de la zone effective pour chacune de la première cellule et de la deuxième cellule étant effectuée en fonction d'un rapport topologique entre ladite première cellule et ladite deuxième cellule. Elle concerne également d'autres modes de réalisation.
