In a pre-filled Foley catheter for urine drainage, the conventional clip for releasing sterile water from a bulb (21) at the proximal end of the catheter, to fill the anchor bulb (20) at the distal end of the device, is replaced by a plug (25) which has an annular portion connected to a thin stem (27) by a circle of weakness. Snapping the stem (27) from the annulus provides a tactile signal through the opaque latex lumen that the catheter has been actuated. There is no separate clip to be disposed of. The interface between the latex and the plug remains undisturbed. Further improvement in the shelf-life and convenience of use of the catheter is delivered by the use of a sleeve, which can be of shrink-wrap material, around the bulb (21) and optionally also around the drain coupling (15) of the catheter. Apparatus for placing the plug and the sleeve is also described.

Dans une sonde de Foley préremplie, conçue pour permettre l'évacuation de l'urine, une pince classique permet d'expulser l'eau stérile contenue dans une poire (21) située au niveau de l'extrémité proximale du cathéter, de manière à remplir la poire d'ancrage (20) située au niveau de l'extrémité distale du dispositif. Conformément à cette invention, on remplace ladite pince classique par un bouchon (25) qui possède une partie annulaire reliée à une fine tige (27) au moyen d'un anneau susceptible d'être brisé. Le fait de séparer la tige (27) de l'anneau constitue un signal tactile traversant le tuyau en latex opaque et indiquant que la sonde a été actionnée. Ainsi, aucune pince ne doit être retirée et l'interface entre le latex et le bouchon n'est pas modifiée. On améliore également la durée de vie d'une telle sonde ainsi que son aspect pratique en utilisant un manchon qui peut être fabriqué dans une matière rétrecissable, que l'on dispose autour de l'ampoule (21) et éventuellement autour du dispositif de couplage d'évacuation du cathéter. L'invention se rapporte également à un appareil permettant de mettre en place ledit bouchon et ledit manchon.
