Biological fluids, e.g. bodily fluids such as plasma/serum, semen, milk or blood, can be treated efficiently with ozone to inactivte certain viruses, bacteria, fungi etc. To effect and enhance the contact of such fluids with ozone, or another disinfecting or deactivating gas, the fluids are thoroughly nebulized, or atomized, i.e. dispersed into minute droplets. Nebulization has been found to afford a faster O3-fluid reaction rate than other known methods. It is proposed to create a fine "rain" of droplets to fall through a controlled atmosphere of O3/O2 and/or O3/inert gas mixture. Electric and magnetic fields are superimposed over the space through which the droplets are passed. Three types of nebulizers/atomizers are described: compressed gas (O3/O2 mixture) atomizer, ultrasonic nebulizer, and rotary nebulizer. The invention was tested on coliphage MS2 which is safe, easy to handle, and more resistant to chemical disinfections than viruses such as HIV. More than 7 log10 reduction in the virus viability was observed.

On peut traiter efficacement des fluides biologiques, comme par exemple le plasma, le sérum, le sperme, le lait ou le sang, avec de l'ozone pour inactiver certains virus, bactéries, champignons, etc. Pour réaliser et améliorer le contact de ces fluides avec l'ozone ou un autre gaz désinfectant ou désactivant, les fluides sont atomisés ou nébulisés en fines gouttelettes. Il s'est avéré qu'une nébulisation permet une vitesse de réaction O¿3? - fluide plus rapide que les autres procédés connus. Selon l'invention, on fait tomber une pluie de fines gouttelettes à travers une atmosphère contrôlée constituée d'un mélange O¿3?/O¿2? et/ou O¿3?/gaz inerte. On applique des champs électriques et magnétiques à l'espace dans lequel les gouttelettes tombent. On décrit trois types d'appareils de nébulisation/atomisation: atomiseur par gaz comprimés (mélange O¿3?/O¿2?), appareil de nébulisation par ultrasons et appareil de nébulisation rotatif. L'invention a été testée sur le coliphage MS2 qui est sans danger, facile à manipuler et plus résistant aux désinfectants chimiques que des virus comme le VIH. Une réduction de l'ordre de plus de 7 unités de log¿10? de la viabilité du virus a été observée.
