A coupler for connecting a first fluid conduit and a second fluid conduit is provided. The coupler contains shielding to stop fluid from spraying if the coupler forms a poor connection. The coupler has a connector that connects the first fluid conduit to the second fluid conduit and has an internal passage through which pressurized fluid can pass from the first fluid conduit, through the connector and into the second fluid conduit. A spray guard is provided attached to the connector. The spray guard has a first portion extending outwards from sides of the connector and a flange extending from the first portion. When the coupler is connected to the second fluid conduit, the spray guard extends extend towards the second fluid conduit. If there is a poor connection between the connector and the second fluid conduit, spraying fluid will be stopped by the spray guard.
