A method for preparing a ruthenium-carrying alumina which comprises suspending alumina in a solution containing a tri-valent ruthenium, and then adding a base to the resultant suspension. A ruthenium-carrying alumina is useful as a catalyst for use in contacting an alcohol with molecular oxygen to oxidize the alcohol, and can be used for oxidizing an alcohol at an enhanced conversion and producing a ketone, an aldehyde, a carboxylic acid and the like with improved productivity.

L'invention concerne un procédé de préparation d'une alumine portant du ruthénium. Ce procédé consiste à mettre une alumine en suspension dans une solution contenant du ruthénium trivalent, puis à ajouter une base à la suspension résultante. Une alumine portant du ruthénium peut servir de catalyseur employé pour mettre un alcool en contact avec de l'oxygène moléculaire pour oxyder cet alcool et peut en outre être utilisée pour oxyder de l'alcool de manière accrue et produire une cétone, un aldéhyde, un acide carboxylique et un composé similaire avec une meilleure productivité.
