The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for thickening lime mud with a disc filter. The invention also relates to a method of cleaning the filter sectors (12) of a disc filter. The method and apparatus according to the invention are especially well suitable for continuously renewing the precoat layer on the filter surfaces of the disc filter and/or washing the wire surfaces by means of washing nozzles (34).
