PRECIS DE LA DIVULGATION: La présente invention a pour objet un nouveau procédé de fabrication de poudre fine de nitrure de silicium, cette poudre et les frittés obtenus à partir de celle-ci. Le procédé comprend la réaction, à contre-courant d'azote, et en continu, de silice, carbone et amorce de cristallisation, en présence d'un composé volatil d'un métal choisi dans le groupe consistant en Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ge, Sn, Ti, Hf, Na et Ba, dans une zone réactionnelle présentant un gradient de température, comprenant une zone chaude dans laquelle ledit composé métallique passe à l'état gazeux et une zone froide dans laquelle se condense ledit composé métallique à l'état gazeux, ledit composé métallique à l'état gazeux étant entraîné de la zone chaude vers la zone froide par le contre-courant d'azote.
