Le procédé selon l'invention consiste à mettre en contact le substrat à revêtir avec une solution d'un catalyseur de polymérisation des oléfines, puis à polymériser en phase gazeuse au moins une oléfine en présence dudit substrat. L'invention concerne également l'utilisation d'une pièce comprenant un revêtement en polymère pour entrer en contact avec des particules de polyoléfine, le polymère constituant le revêtement comprenant des enchaînements de formule -CH2-CHR-.
