A precordial overlay (11) having electrode assemblies (24) are used to obtain a quick and accurate positioning of electrodes for an electrocardiographic test. The precordial overlay (11) has a set of slots (15-20) in which the electrode assemblies (24) are slidably mounted. Each electrode assembly (24) comprises an electrode (25) to receive a lead wire, an underlying non- conductive pad (29) secured to the electrode (25), and an overlying plastic sheet (30) secured to the electrode in a manner whereby its peripheral areas are unattached. Preferably, the electrode assembly (24) also has an underlying adhesive layer (31) secured to the non-conductive pad (29) and a removable backing strip (32). The underlying non-conductive pad (29) and the overlying plastic sheet (30) of the assemblies effectively trap the electrode assemblies (24) in the slots of the precordial overlay (11) to allow sliding electrode movement. The sliding movement of the electrodes (25) allows for limited but quick movement from an approximate chest area locating to a precise chest area location for a reliable electrocardiographic test.
On utilise un dispositif précordial (11) comprenant des ensembles électrodes (24) pour effectuer le positionnement rapide et précis des électrodes afin d'effectuer un test électrocardiographique. Le dispositif précordial (11) comporte une série de fentes (15-20) dans lesquelles sont montés coulissants les ensembles électrodes (24). Chaque ensemble électrode (24) comprend une électrode (25) prévue pour recevoir un fil de connexion, une garniture sous-jacente (29) non conductrice fixée à l'électrode (25) et une feuille plastique (30) sus-jacente fixée à l'électrode de telle sorte que ses zones périphériques ne soient pas attachées. De préférence l'ensemble électrode (24) comprend également une couche (31) adhésive sous-jacente fixée à la garniture non conductrice (29) et une feuille (32) de support détachable. La garniture (29) sous-jacente non conductrice et la feuille plastique (30) sus-jacente des ensembles enferment de manière efficace les ensembles électrodes (24) dans les fentes du dispositif précordial (11) pour permettre aux électrodes de glisser. Ce mouvement des électrodes (25) leur permet d'effectuer un mouvement limité mais rapide pour passer d'une zone approximative située sur la poitrine à une zone précise située sur la poitrine afin d'effectuer un test électrocardiographique fiable.
