An improved non-human animal model of severe pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and its use for testing of therapeutic agents that can treat symptoms of PAH are disclosed. In addition, the present application relates to the identification of several classes of therapeutic agents that, alone or in combination, can be used to treat or prevent PAH or at least reduce the severity of symptoms associated therewith. Both gene therapy and non-gene therapy approaches are described.

L'invention concerne un modèle animal non humain amélioré présentant une hypertension artérielle pulmonaire grave (PAH) et l'utilisation de celui-ci dans le test d'agents thérapeutiques pouvant traiter des symptômes de PAH. De plus, l'invention concerne l'identification de plusieurs classes d'agents thérapeutiques pouvant être utilisés, seuls ou en combinaison, aux fins de traitement ou de prévention de PAH ou au moins de réduction de la gravité des symptômes associés à celle-ci. L'invention concerne des approches thérapeutiques aussi bien géniques que non géniques.
