An ion mobility spectrometer system comprising: an ion mobility detector; a gas/vapour circulating system for the ion mobility detector into which samples of gases and vapours of interest may be drawn for detection by the ion mobility spectrometer; the circulating system comprising an ion mobility cell (12), means for drying and/or cleaning (20, 22) the circulating gases/vapours in the circulating system, a dopant source (20, 22), and means for causing circulation (10) of the gases/vapours within the circulating system; in which the dopant source and the means for drying and/or cleaning the circulating gases/vapours are combined (20, 22), whereby the need for a physically separate dopant source for the system is obviated. The dopant source material may be combined with the material for drying and or cleaning the circulating gases/vapours.

L'invention concerne un système de spectromètre de mobilité ionique (IMS) qui comprend les éléments suivants: un détecteur de mobilité ionique, un système de circulation gaz/vapeur pour ce détecteur de mobilité ionique, dans lequel on peut faire passer des échantillons de gaz et de vapeur en vue d'une détection par le spectromètre de mobilité ionique, ce système de circulation comprenant une cellule (12) de mobilité ionique, des moyens (20,22) permettant de sécher et/ou de purifier les gaz/vapeurs passant dans le système de circulation, une source (20,22) de dopant et des moyens (10) permettant de faire circuler les gas/vapeurs dans le système de circulation. La source de dopant et les moyens de séchage et/ou de purification des gaz/vapeurs circulants sont combinés (20,22), une source de dopant physiquement séparée étant ainsi superflue. La matière de la source de dopant peut être combinée à la matière permettant de sécher et/ou de purifier les gaz/vapeurs circulants.
