According to the invention, alcohols and/or aldehydes are prepared from olefins by the crossed metathesis of olefins with alcohols which comprise at least one double bond in the molecule and in which at least one hydroxy group is in the allyl position relative to a C=C double bond, on catalysts of general formula (I) XX1LL1Ru = CR1R2 and optionally subsequent hydrogenation and/or isomerization, R1 and R2 designating hydrogen or optionally C-organic groups containing at least one heteratom, X and X1, independently of each other, designating anionic ligands, and L and L1, independently of each other, designating neutral electron-donor ligands.

Selon l'invention, des alcools et/ou des aldéhydes sont obtenus à partir d'oléfines par métathèse croisée d'oléfines avec des alcools comportant au moins une liaison double dans la molécule et dans lesquels au moins un groupe hydroxy se trouve en position allyle par rapport à une liaison double C=C, sur des catalyseurs de la formule (I) XX?1¿LL?1¿Ru = CR?1¿R?2¿, et éventuellement par hydrogénation et/ou isomérisation subséquente, R?1¿ et R?2¿ désignant hydrogène ou éventuellement des restes organiques de C contenant au moins un hétéroatome, X et X?1¿ désignant indépendamment l'un de l'autre des ligands anioniques et L et L?1¿ désignant indépendamment l'un de l'autre des ligands neutres donneurs d'électrons.
