A device for drilling a hole in bone and for inserting bone screws into the drilled hole is provided. The device comprises a trocar, drill sleeve and protection sleeve in a telescopically nested configuration. The drill sleeve and protection sleeve may have an axial locking feature that allows the two pieces to be handled together as a unit by preventing inadvertent separation. The axial locking feature may comprise an integral annular ridge provided on one sleeve that cooperates with an annular groove provided on the other sleeve. One sleeve may also have at (east one slot allowing the locking feature to be disengaged prior to separation of the sleeves. The sleeves may be easily separated with one hand by the user by the application of an axial separation force between a pair of flanges provided with the sleeves, and by a radial compression force applied to at least a portion of the drill sleeve.
Le dispositif fourni permet de percer un trou dans l~os et d~insérer des broches osseuses dans le trou percé. Le dispositif comprend un trocar, un manchon de forêt et un manchon de protection emboîtée dans une configuration télescopique. Le manchon de forêt et le manchon de protection peuvent avoir la caractéristique d~un verrouillage axial qui permet de manipuler les deux pièces ensemble comme une même unité en évitant une séparation accidentelle. Le verrouillage axial peut comporter une nervure annulaire sur un manchon qui fonctionne avec rainure annulaire présente sur l~autre manchon. Un des manchons peut aussi avoir au moins une encoche qui permet de retirer le verrouillage axial avant séparation des manchons. Les manchons peuvent facilement être séparés par l~utilisateur d~une seule main en appliquant une force de séparation axiale entre les deux brides fournies avec les manchons, et par une force de compression radiale appliquée sur au moins une partie du manchon de forêt.
