The invention provides a polymer composite comprising a thermoplastic host polymer having solid particulate material dispersed therethrough, the host polymer having at least one phase nanodomain, wherein the solid particulate material comprises particles having height, length and width dimensions of which at least one is substantially less than one or both of the other dimensions, and wherein the composite exhibits an increase in modulus of no more than 15 % and a higher tensile strength, relative to said host polymer.
La présente invention a pour objet un composite à base de polymère. Ledit composite comprend un polymère hôte thermoplastique incluant au moins un nanodomaine de phase. Des particules d'un matériau solide sont dispersées dans ledit polymère. Ledit matériau solide est composé de particules ayant des dimensions (hauteur, longueur, largeur) telles que l'une de ces dimensions ou moins soit substantiellement inférieure à l'une ou aux deux autres. Le composite décrit présente une augmentation de module d'élasticité inférieure ou égale à 15 % vis-à-vis de celui du polymère hôte de départ, et une résistance à la traction supérieure à celle du polymère hôte de départ.
