A mortise lock locates its components in a housing provided with a cover. The housing has a side basic wall containing a central opening and a pair of aligning openings. The cover has similar openings. A pair of upper and lower hook assemblies is articulated with a pair of connecting arms. A double-armed pivot is interrelated with the pair of upper and lower hook assemblies through a pair of upper and lower connecting links and via the pair of connecting arms. The upper connecting link has a compound curvilinear configuration for wrapping, with a sliding contact, a cylindrical body of the double-armed pivot, when the mortise lock is unlocked. The lower connecting link is similar. The cylindrical body of the double-armed pivot is provided at both extremities with a guide for inserting in the central opening of the side basic wall and main wall.
