An attachment for skid steer loaders and small type farm tractors. This attachment is for driving round posts into the ground. It has large coil springs. Attached to these springs is a hammer. The springs are compressed by a hydraulic cylinder on this attachment. The coil springs are completely released by a hold and release mechanism. This attachment has a means of protecting the top of a round or square post from splitting and cracking by the hammer, because the hammer does not come into direct contact with the post. Instead, the hammer hits a post centering piston which is a functioning part of this attachment. The post centering piston is in direct contact with the post as it is pounded into the ground. The post centering piston is a vertical sliding sleeve inside of the-post positioning tube. The post contact surface on the post centering position has a graduated incline to center. When the attachment is placed over the post, the post will move to the highest position of the graduated incline, which is center. When the hammer is released the edges of the post top are forced to the center of the post all around, which will stop the post from splitting and cracking. This and other features will become clearer in the specification and drawings.
