The invention concerns a reactor for treatment with pressurized water of a substance in a fluid reaction medium. It comprises a body (2) delimiting a reaction zone (10), an inlet (48) for introducing the substance to be treated into the reaction zone (10), a point for introducing (46) an oxidant in the reaction zone (10), at least one exit for evacuating the treated substance outside the reaction zone (10), the substance to be treated following a specific path in the reaction zone between its inlet and its exit. The point for introducing (46) the oxidant in the reaction zone (10) is located downstream of the inlet (48) for the substance and is spaced apart therefrom by some distance so as to define an anoxic zone (20) included between the inlet for the substance to be treated and the point for introducing the oxidant, zone wherein the fluid medium is in anoxia.
