The invention relates to a water-dilutable polyurethane, which comprises at least two free OH groups, that can be obtained from a first reaction of a primary and/or secondary alkanolamine with an NCO compound to form an intermediate product followed by adding a cyclic carboxylic acid anhydride to the intermediate product. The NCO compound comprises at least one free NCO group and does not have any block NCO groups. During the first reaction to form the intermediate product, all of the alkanolamine is reacted whereby the nitrogen atom of the alkanolamine reacts with one of the free NCO groups of the prepolymer while forming a urea linkage. The cyclic carboxylic acid anhydride, under decyclization, reacts with the OH group of intermediate product, said OH group originating from the alkanolamine. The invention also relates to the use of this functionalized polyurethane for producing thermosetting coating compositions.
L'invention concerne du polyuréthane pouvant être dilué avec de l'eau, comportant au moins deux groupes OH libres, pouvant être obtenu par mélange d'une alcanolamine primaire et/ou secondaire avec un composé NCO de manière à former un produit intermédiaire, puis par addition d'un anhydride d'acide carboxylique cyclique au produit intermédiaire. Selon l'invention, ledit composé NCO comporte au moins un groupe NCO libre et aucun groupe NCO bloqué. Par ailleurs, lors du premier mélange visant à obtenir le produit intermédiaire, toute l'alcanolamine est transformée de manière que l'atome d'azote de l'alcanolamine réagit avec un des groupes NCO libres du prépolymère, avec formation d'une liaison urée, et l'anhydride d'acide carboxylique cyclique réagit avec le groupe OH provenant de l'alcanolamine du produit intermédiaire, avec ouverture du cycle. L'invention concerne également l'utilisation du polyuréthane selon l'invention pour la fabrication de compositions de revêtement thermodurcissables.
