A device for receiving a chip shaped carrier having an active surface, e.g. a surface which carries an array of DNA olgonucleotides and which is adapted to be read by an electro-optical reading device. The device comprises: a cartridge having an opening for receiving a liquid sample and including casing parts; a casing part having an inner surface and outer surface, a first cavity for receiving a chip shaped carrier, and means which provide access to that first cavity and thereby to the active surface of the chip shaped carrier; a sealing material which is at least once reversibly liquidifiable; the shape and dimensions of first cavity, chip shaped carrier, and sealing material, being chosen that the chip shaped carrier fits into the space delimited by the sealing material. The process for mounting the carrier in the cartridge essentially consists in placing the carrier in the first cavity and liquidifying the sealing material. In the liquid state, the sealing material closes any gap between the side walls of the first cavity and the carrier, and after solidification, the sealing material constitutes a strong and liquid-tight bond.

Le dispositif comprend un cartouche muni d'une ouverture pour recevoir un échantillon de liquide et comportant des parties enveloppantes, qui sont elles même munies d'une surface intérieure et d'une surface extérieure, d'une première cavité pour recevoir un support en forme de pastille, et un dispositif qui permet l'accès à cette première cavité, et donc, à la surface active du support en forme de pastille; un matériau de scellage qui peut être liquidifié et vice-versa au moins une fois; la forme et les dimensions de la cavité, du support en forme de pastille et du matériau scellant sont choisis de façon à ce que le support en forme de pastille s'adapte dans l'espace délimité par le matériau scellant. Le processus de montage du support dans la cartouche consiste essentiellement à placer le support dans la première cavité et à liquidifier le matériau scellant. Sous sa forme liquide, le matériau scelle toute brèche entre les parois latérales de la première cavité et du support et, après sa solidification, le matériau scellant constitue un lien résistant et étanche aux liquides.
