Pre-fiber gel compositions are described herein that include at leeast one polymer-based composition, monomer-based composition or combination thereof; and at least one compatible gelling agent, wherein the at least one gelling agent chemically or physically reacts with the at least one polymer-based composition, monomer-based composition or combination thereof to form the pre- fiber gel composition. Composite material precursors are also described herein that include a matrix component precursor; and a reinforcement component, wherein the combination of the matrix component precursor and the reinforcement component form the composite material precursor. Methods of forming a pre-fiber gel composition, a reinforcement component, a fiber, a composite material precursor and a composite material are also described and contemplated herein. A contemplated method of forming a pre-fiber gel composition includes: a) providing at least one polymer-based composition, monomer-based composition or combination thereof; b) providing at least one compatible gelling agent; and c) contacting at least part of the at least one polymer-based composition, monomer-based composition or combination thereof with the at least one compatible gelling agent, such that the at least one gelling agent chemically or physically reacts with the at least one polymer- based composition, monomer-based composition or combination thereof to form the pre-fiber gel composition. Methods of forming composite material precursors include: a) providing a matrix component precursor; b) providing a reinforcement component; and c) contacting the reinforcement component with the matrix component precursor, wherein the combination of the matrix component precursor and the reinforcement component form the composite material precursor.
L'invention concerne des compositions de gel de pré-fibre comprenant au moins une composition à base de polymère, une composition à base de monomère ou une combinaison de celles-ci, et au moins un agent gélifiant compatible, cet agent gélifiant réagissant chimiquement ou physiquement avec la composition à base de polymère, la composition à base de monomère ou la combinaison de celles-ci, de manière à former la composition de gel de pré-fibre. L'invention concerne également des précurseurs de matières composites comprenant un précurseur de constituant matriciel et un constituant de renfort, la combinaison du précurseur de constituant matriciel et du constituant de renfort formant le précurseur de matière composite. L'invention se rapporte en outre à des procédés destinés à former une composition de gel de pré-fibre, un constituant de renfort, une fibre, un précurseur de matière composite et une matière composite. Un procédé de formation d'une composition de gel de pré-fibre consiste (a) à utiliser au moins une composition à base de polymère, une composition à base de monomère ou une combinaison de celles-ci, (b) à utiliser au moins un agent gélifiant compatible, et (c) à mettre une partie au moins de la composition à base de polymère, de la composition à base de monomère ou de la combinaison de celles-ci en contact avec l'agent gélifiant compatible, de sorte que ledit agent gélifiant compatible réagisse chimiquement ou physiquement avec la composition à base de polymère, la composition à base de monomère ou la combinaison de celles-ci pour former la composition de gel de pré-fibre. Les procédés destinés à former des précurseurs de matières composites consistent (a) à utiliser un précurseur de constituant matriciel, (b) à utiliser un constituant de renfort, et (c) à mettre le constituant de renfort en contact avec le précurseur de constituant matriciel, la combinaison du précurseur de constituant matriciel et du constituant de renfort formant le précurseur de matière composite.
