In a data media storage library for storing and accessing storage media, the storage media being contained in cartridges, the data media storage library having a library housing, an access opening in the library housing for inserting cartridges, a storage array within the library housing including a number of storage locations, a plurality of media storage elements adapted to hold the storage media, a plurality of data transfer elements adapted to read and write information on the storage media, and a media transport element within the library housing adapted to move the storage media between the media storage element and the data transfer element, an import/export element which rotates the cartridge 180 degrees after moving the cartridge from the access opening to the media transport element, including: a cartridge holder adapted to receive the media cartridge from the access opening; a lead screw mounted in a first direction between a first point and a second point and rotating about a first axis parallel to the first direction; a keyed nut threaded on the lead screw, the keyed nut having a first slot and a second slot, and a rail alternately engaging the first slot and second slot, the rail extending between the first point and the second point; a detent adapted to alternately engage the first and second slot adjacent the rail at the second point; a first bevel gear fastened to the keyed nut; and a second bevel gear meshing with the first bevel gear and a shaft driven by the second bevel gear and connected to the cartridge holder.

Lesdits supports de mémoire sont contenus dans des cartouches. L'unité de rangement de supports de données comporte un boîtier, une ouverture d'accès pratiquée dans ledit boîtier pour l'insertion des cartouches, un râtelier de rangement, situé à l'intérieur du boîtier, qui comporte un certain nombre d'emplacements de rangement, une pluralité d'éléments de rangement de supports conçus pour maintenir les supports de mémoire, une pluralité d'éléments de transfert de données conçus pour lire et écrire des informations enregistrées sur le support de mémoire, et un élément de transport de supports, placé dans le boîtier, conçu pour déplacer le support de mémoire entre l'élément de rangement de supports et l'élément de transfert de données. L'invention concerne, en particulier, un élément d'importation/exportation, qui tourne la cartouche de 180 degrés après l'avoir déplacée de l'ouverture d'accès à l'élément de transport de supports, et qui comprend : un porte-cartouche conçu pour recevoir la cartouche arrivant de l'ouverture d'accès ; une vis-mère montée dans une première direction entre un premier point et un second point, de manière à tourner autour d'un premier axe parallèle à la première direction ; un écrou claveté vissé sur la vis-mère, l'écrou claveté comportant une première et une seconde fente, et un rail venant au contact tantôt de la première fente tantôt de la seconde fente, ledit rail s'étendant entre le premier point et le second point ; un goujon d'arrêt conçu pour venir en prise, de façon alternée, avec la première et la seconde fente adjacentes au rail au niveau du second point ; un premier engrenage conique fixé à l'écrou claveté ; et un second engrenage conique en prise avec le premier engrenage conique et un axe entraîné par le second engrenage conique et relié au porte-cartouche.
