A method to effect behavioral change with regard to good hand hygiene practices is disclosed. The methodology employs staged and stratified tools of education, triggers of awareness, leadership development, personal engagement, feedback, reinforcement, and the provision of outside support matched to stages of individual and cultural change. The program stages through a pre- launch period, a launch period, a concentrated period of culture change, and a process for maintaining the culture thereafter. Each stage involves various tools and various personnel to achieve the desired result of good hand hygiene practices being a way of life, rather than a weak periodic focus that can threaten safety and quality of patient care.
L'invention porte sur un procédé permettant de susciter un changement de comportement se traduisant par des pratiques appropriées en matière d'hygiène des mains. Ce procédé fait appel à des outils d'éducation à plusieurs étapes et plusieurs niveaux, à des éléments activant la prise de conscience, à la formation d'animateurs, à un engagement individuel, à une rétroaction, à des mesures de renfort, ainsi qu'à l'apport d'un support externe adapté aux stades d'évolution individuelle et culturelle. Les étapes du programme se décomposent en une période préliminaire, une période de lancement, une période concentrée de changement culturel, et un processus permettant de maintenir cette culture par la suite. Chaque étape fait appel à divers outils et à divers intervenants pour produire un résultat escompté, lequel consiste à obtenir l'adoption des pratiques adéquates d'hygiène des mains en tant que mode de vie, plutôt qu'en tant que fragile sujet d'intérêt périodique, risquant de mettre en péril la sécurité et la qualité des soins aux patients.
