There is provided a method of transporting a slurry. Flowing slurry is flowed into an internal space of a vessel and through a flow passage fluidly coupled to the vessel, wherein the flow passage includes an outlet for discharging the flowing slurry into the internal vessel space, wherein the outlet defines an adjustable cross- sectional flow area of the flow passage. While slurry is being flowed through the flow passage when the internal vessel space is disposed at a pressure which is lower than the bubble point pressure of the liquid component of the slurry being flowed into the internal vessel space, effecting an operative reduction of the adjustable cross-sectional flow area in response to a low pressure indication in the flow passage. The operative reduction effects an increase in the pressure within the flow passage portion upstream of the adjustable cross-sectional flow area to greater than the bubble point pressure of the liquid component of the slurry being flowed into the internal vessel space.
