A computer keyboard has keys that are grouped into functional groups and the groups are arranged for ease of use and visual differentiation to aid child users. One or more groups of advanced keys may be hidden from young users, but exposed for use by older users, by a key array cover that is movable between open and closed positions exposing and covering, respectively, the advanced keys. Several rows of keys in one or more of the groups are arranged in spaced relationship so that templates can be disposed with graphic indicia-bearing portions between the rows of keys to associate graphic indicia with each of the keys in the rows.
