An improved impact modifier for polymers, such as PBT and blends thereof, is disclosed. The impact modifier is a blend of (A) a core/shell additive having a core based on alkyl acrylate, on a polyorganosiloxane rubber or a blend thereof and a shell based on poly(alkyl methacrylate), or on a styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer grafted onto the core; and (B) a linear copolymer which contains from 50 to 85 parts of units derived from ethylene, from 5 to 40 parts of units derived from (meth)acrylic esters, and from 2 to 10 parts of a copolymerizable monomer containing an epoxy group. The impact strength provided by the impact modifier blend is unexpectedly higher than the impact strength provided by each individual component of the blend.

Un adjuvant antichoc amélioré pour polymères, comme le PBT et ses mélanges, est divulgué. L'adjuvant est un mélange de (A) un additif coeur-enveloppe ayant un coeur basé sur un acrylate d'alkyle, sur un caoutchouc de polyorganosiloxane ou sur un mélange de ceux-ci et une enveloppe basée sur un poly(méthacrylate d'alkyle) ou sur un copolymère styrène-acrylonitrile greffé sur le coeur; (B) un copolymère linéaire contenant de 50 à 85 parties d'unités dérivées de l'éthylène, de 5 à 40 parties d'unités dérivées d'esters (méth)acryliques et de 2 à 10 parties d'un monomère copolymérisable contenant un groupement époxy. La résistance au choc conférée par le mélange est plus élevée, de façon inattendue, que celle conférée par chaque constituant du mélange.
