A composition and method for killing fire ants is disclosed that includes the purified and activated Cry toxin from a novel strain of Bacillus thuringiensis, wherein the water soluble, partially purified, activated toxin is provided along with an attractant to kill the imported fire and using a biodegradable, environmentally sound glycoprotein without a need for toxic chemicals.

L'invention concerne une composition et un procédé destinés à tuer les fourmis de feu, ladite composition comprenant la toxine Cry purifiée et activée d'une nouvelle souche de <i>Bacillus thuringiensis</i>. La toxine soluble dans l'eau, partiellement purifiée et activée est utilisée avec un attractif pour tuer la fourmi de feu importée à l'aide d'une glycoprotéine biodégradable, respectueuse de l'environnement, sans nécessité d'utiliser de produits chimiques toxiques.
