A method and apparatus for providing a secure supply chain. The method and apparatus include (a) conducting a transaction involving a plurality of parties, the transaction proceeding from party to party until all parties are involved in the transaction; and (b) electronically updating an electronic transaction record as the transaction proceeds from party to parry so that, after the transaction proceeds to all the parties, a final transaction record is created and includes identification, authentication and authorization of each party involved in the transaction. Preferably, all the parties are provided some type of access to the final transaction record so that the parties can verify information in the final transaction record.
