ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION This invention relates to methods of inhibiting development of leukoplakia or malignant lesions in a patient comprising the step of administering an effective leukoplakia or malignant lesion inhibiting amount of fenretinide to a patient wherein the administration of the fenretinide incurs less significant undesirable side effects than administration of other vitamin A retinoid derivatives.
