The invention relates to the preparation of various forms of pharmaceuticals for medical and veterinary uses, said pharmaceuticals comprising as active ingredients special herbal essences, capable of substituting antibiotics and sulphamide based drugs, due to their important activity against germs causing inflammations, infections and diarrhoea in humans and animals. The pharmaceutical compositions comprise a herbal essential oil containing thymol and carvacrol as its main ingredients and is characterised in that (a) the total amount of thymol and carvacrol in said essential oil is at least 55 %, preferably 70 % by weight of said essential oil and (b) the ratio of carvacrol to thymol is at least 10 and preferably within the range of 30 to 150. A composition additionally comprising tannin is used in the treatment of diseases caused by pathogenic microorganisms of the abdominal region. The essential oils are obtained by steam distillation of herbs preferably selected from origanum hyrtum or origanum heracleoticum or a mixture thereof. The composition is preferably used for the prevention and treatment of coccidiosis in poultry and for disinfection of water.
Procédé de préparation de différents types de produits pharmaceutiques à usage médical et vétérinaire comportant, à titre d'ingrédients actifs, des essences d'herbes particulières aptes à se substituer aux antibiotiques et aux médicaments sulfamidés, grâce à leur importante activité dirigée contre les germes responsables des inflammations, des infections et de la diarrhée chez l'homme et les animaux. Ces compositions pharmaceutiques comportent une huile essentielle à base d'herbes renfermant, à titre d'ingrédients principaux, du thymol et du carvacrol, et elles sont caractérisées en ce que (a) la quantité totale de thymol et de carvacrol dans ladite huile essentielle est d'au moins 55 % en poids et de préférence de 70 % en poids, par rapport au poids de ladite huile essentielle, et (b) en ce que le rapport entre le carvacrol et le thymol est d'au moins 10 et de préférence compris entre 30 et 150. Une composition renfermant également du tanin est utilisée dans le traitement de maladies dues à des micro-organismes pathogènes dans la région abdominale. Les huiles essentielles sont obtenues par distillation à la vapeur d'herbes choisies de préférence entre l'origanum hyrtum ou l'origanum heracleoticum, ou leur mélange. De préférence, cette composition est utilisée dans le traitement et la prophylaxie de la coccidiose des volailles et dans la désinfection de l'eau.
