A method for manufacturing a drive plate or one-piece torsional vibration damper retainer plate (20) for a torque converter (26) is disclosed. The retainer plate includes an annular periphery (36) curled into a generally C-shaped channel (4b) for retaining at least one spring (56). The method includes the following steps. First, the retainer plate (20) is stamped primarily to form a central plate segment (34), an annular periphery (36), and a hub opening (44). Next, the annular periphery of the retainer plate is pre-curled. The plate is then heat treated to enhanced the physical properties of the retainer plate. The spring is disposed within the pre-curled annular periphery. Finally, the annular periphery of the retainer plate is completely curled into the generally C-shaped channel to substantially surround the spring thereby preventing the spring from being removed from the C-shaped channel of the retainer plate during operation of the retainer plate.

L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'une plaque d'entraînement ou d'une plaque de retenue d'amortisseur monobloc de vibrations de torsion (20) pour convertisseur de couple (26). La plaque de retenue comprend une périphérie annulaire (36) incurvée pour former un canal (46) ayant une forme générale en C et destiné à retenir au moins un ressort (56). Le procédé comprend les stades suivants: en premier lieu, on emboutit la plaque de retenue (20) pour qu'elle forme un segment de plaque centrale (34), une périphérie annulaire (36) et une ouverture pour moyeu (44). Au stade suivant, on préforme en boucles la périphérie annulaire de la plaque de retenue puis on la traite thermiquement pour améliorer ses propriétés physiques. Le ressort est disposé à l'intérieur de la périphérie annulaire préformée en boucles. A la fin, la périphérie annulaire est complètement formée en boucles pour former un canal en C qui entoure sensiblement le ressort afin d'empêcher ledit ressort de sortir du canal en C de la plaque de retenue pendant le fonctionnement de cette dernière.
