Hepatic fibrosis or necrosis is diagnosed in vivo by administering a complex of a polymer having calcium-chelating phosphonate groups with radionuclide ions and comparing the degree of retention of the polymer in the diseased liver with that of normal patients. The preferred complex is of Tc-99m polyethyleneiminomethyl phosphonate.

L'invention concerne un diagnostic de fibrose ou de nécrose hépatique in vivo par administration d'un complexe de polymère présentant des groupes phosphonates à chélation de calcium avec des ions de radionucléides et par comparaison du degré de rétention du polymère contenu dans le foie malade avec celui que l'on trouve chez les patients non atteints de maladie hépatique. Le complexe préféré est composé de phosphonate polyéthylène-imine méthyle Tc-99m.
