A breathing circuit comprising first (30) and second (40) conduits is disclosed, wherein at least one of the conduits is a non-conventional conduit. A multi-lumen unilimb breathing circuit is also disclosed having first (30) and second (40) conduits, wherein when the proximal ends of the first (30) and second (40) conduits are each connected to an inlet (10) and outlet (20) fitting, respectively, movement of the distal end of the first conduit (30) causes a corresponding movement of the distal end of the second conduit (40). In an embodiment, at least one of said conduits is coiled. In another embodiment, a coiled conduit (30) is contained within an outer flexible conduit (40) that is axially extendable and compressible, forming a unilimb multilumen respiratory circuit. The outer flexible conduit (40) may be pleated to provide for axial extension and contraction. The multilumen respiratory circuit can provide a variable rebreathing volume. Also disclosed are methods and systems of optimizing utilization of fresh gas during artificial or assisted ventilation, including administering anesthesia.
L'invention porte sur un circuit respiratoire comportant un premier et un deuxième conduit dont l'un au moins est non usuel. L'invention porte également sur un circuit respiratoire monolithique comportant un premier et un deuxième conduit dont les extrémités proximales sont reliées respectivement à un raccord d'entrée et à un raccord de sortie, le mouvement de l'extrémité distale du premier conduit entraînant un mouvement correspondant de l'extrémité distale du deuxième conduit. Dans une exécution, l'un desdits conduits est en spirale. Dans une autre exécution, un conduit en spirale est placé dans un conduit extérieur flexible compressible et extensible axialement de manière à constituer un circuit respiratoire monolithique à plusieurs lumières. Le conduit flexible extérieur peut être en accordéon pour permettre son extension ou sa contraction axiale. Le circuit respiratoire à plusieurs lumières peut fournir un volume variable de rerespiration. Dans une troisième exécution, au moins un tube du conduit respiratoire à plusieurs lumières peut se comprimer ou dilater axialement jusqu'à un rayon maximal pour transporter les gaz de la respiration entrant dans le patient ou en sortant. L'invention porte également sur des procédés et systèmes optimisant l'utilisation des gaz frais en ventilation artificielle ou assistée y compris lors d'anesthésies.
