To facilitate the creation of an interface between a network control layer and controlled elements in the network, on insertion of a new element to be controlled an intelligent interface creates a compatibility listing between the network control layer and the element manager. The intelligent interface carries out steps of "look around", "try and see", "follow instructions" and "structured questioning". Each of these steps, in association with a dictionary of "comparable information" results in data being added to a knowledge frame which defines the element and its message format handling requirements.

Afin de faciliter la création d'une interface entre un niveau de commande d'un réseau et des éléments commandés de ce réseau, lors de l'insertion d'un nouvel élément à commander, une interface intelligente crée une liste de compatibilités entre ledit niveau et l'organe de commande des éléments. Cette interface intelligente effectue les étapes suivantes: "regarder et voir", "suivre les instructions" et "questionnaire structuré". Chacune de ces étapes, en association avec un dictionnaire "d'informations comparables", crée des données qui sont ajoutées à un bloc de connaissances, lequel bloc détermine l'élément ainsi que les conditions requises par celui-ci pour le traitement de formats de messages.
