A magnetic tape drive for reading and writing data on magnetic tape in a cartridge (10) of the type in which a driven roller in the cartridge moves tape past a read/write head in the drive and has a tape drive motor (14) with a fan blade assembly (16) which draws cooling air over the baseplate (10a) of the cartridge.
