To enhance joint between the hull and the deck, attach the side protector in a small number of steps, and form the positioning means for the tapping screws and the rivets on the side protector with a small number of steps. A vessel body 11 is constructed by joining the hull 14 and the deck 15 at their peripheral edges with respect to each other, placing the rail-shaped side protector 40 circumferentially thereof, and integrating the side protector and the peripheral edges 14a, 15a of the hull and the deck with the tapping screws 50 or the rivets 60. The rail-shaped side protector 40 is formed on its outer surface with a positioning groove for the tapping screws or the rivets along the length thereof. The rail-shaped side protector 40 is formed of extruded material.
