A collection device for receiving, collecting and returning blood from a body cavity, indludes a housing (12) for collecting the blood which has an inlet (32) for fluid communication with the body cavity, a first outlet for returning blood to the body and a second outlet (36) for coupling to a suction source. The collection device also includes a flow member (50) which is disposed within the housing so as to direct at least a portion of the blood entering through the inlet into a first predetermined direction and the remaining portion of the blood into a second predetermined direction within the housing. The flow member can be a plate with ribs (56, 57) thereon to divert the flow of blood along the direction of the ribs. The collection device can also include a filter assembly (40) position within the housing so as to filter and defoam the blood before exiting from the housing.
Un dispositif de collecte pour la réception, la collecte et le renvoi de sang provenant d'une cavité du corps comprend un boîtier (12) pour le prélèvement du sang muni d'une entrée (32) pour le fluide provenant de la cavité du corps, une première sortie permettant de renvoyer le sang au corps et une deuxième sortie (36) permettant le raccordement à une source d'aspiration. Le dispositif de collecte comprend également un élément d'écoulement (50) disposé à l'intérieur du boîtier de manière à diriger au moins une partie du sang pénétrant par l'entrée dans une première direction prédéterminée et le reste du sang dans une deuxième direction prédéterminée à l'intérieur du boîtier. L'élément d'écoulement peut être composé d'une plaque munie de nervures (56, 57) destinées à détourner le flux de sang dans la direction des nervures. Le dispositif de collecte peut également comporter un filtre (40) placé à l'intérieur du boîtier et destiné à filtrer le sang et à le débarasser de sa mousse avant qu'il ne sorte du boîtier.
