Disclosed is a starter for AC-fed low-pressure discharge lamps that are operated on a series inductor. Said starter comprises a glow fuse, a high- temperature conductor (NTC resistor) that is serially connected to the glow fuse, and a resetting bimetal switch which is serially connected to the glow fuse and the high-temperature conductor and is in thermal contact therewith. The high-temperature conductor is provided with high resistance in the cold state, which is transformed into low resistance by means of built-up heat while the bimetal switch interrupts the electrode heating circuit when the low- pressure discharge lamp fails to ignite. According to the invention, the current is conducted via the high-temperature conductor for both igniting the low-pressure discharge lamp and switching off when the discharge lamp fails to ignite.

L'invention concerne un élément d'amorçage pour lampes à décharge basse pression actionnées sur un ballast inductif, comprenant un allumeur à décharge, un thermistor (résistance NTC), commuté en série par rapport à l'allumeur à décharge, ainsi qu'un interrupteur bimétallique pouvant être réinitialisé, qui est commuté en série avec l'allumeur d'amorçage et le thermistor et peut être placé en contact thermique avec ledit thermistor. Le thermistor présente à l'état froid une résistance à haute valeur ohmique, qui se transforme en une résistance à valeur ohmique réduite, sous l'effet de son propre échauffement. En cas de non amorçage de la lampe à décharge basse pression, le commutateur bimétallique coupe le circuit de chauffage des électrodes. Selon l'invention, le courant est acheminé, en cas de non amorçage, par l'intermédiaire du thermistor, aussi bien pour amorcer la lampe à décharge basse pression, que pour la couper.
