A portable dyke includes a plurality of modular dyke components joined to form a rectangular enclosure. Each modular dyke component have a body with a first end and a second end. At least one hook extends from the first end of the body. At least one cavity is provided at the second end of the body. The cavity has opposed sidewalls. A transverse hook engaging member extends between the opposed sidewalls of the cavity. An opening extends through the second end of the body above the transverse hook engaging member, whereby a hook from an adjacent body is inserted into the cavity to engage the transverse hook engaging member.
