The invention relates to a method for improving the acoustic properties, especially the sustain, of a string instrument comprising taut strings fixed at both ends of the instrument. An element is arranged on at least one end of at least one string, between a fixing device consisting of a first material and the string, said element consisting of a second material having a conductive and absorbent capacity for sound waves in the audible frequency range created by striking the strings, which is lower than the conductive or absorbent capacity of the first material in said frequency range, in such a way that the string is protected against any contact with the fixing device. The invention also relates to a novel fixing plate for using with guitars, especially electronic guitars or electronic bases, and to one such guitar or electronic bass equipped with one such fixing plate.
L'invention concerne un procédé d'amélioration des propriétés sonores, notamment du sustain, d'un instrument à cordes comportant des cordes tendues, fixées sur deux extrémités. Selon l'invention, sur au moins une extrémité d'au moins une corde, entre un dispositif de fixation réalisé dans un premier matériau et la corde, l'instrument selon l'invention comporte un élément réalisé dans un deuxième matériau présentant une capacité de conduction ou d'absorption des ondes sonores dans la gamme des fréquences audibles produites par actionnement des cordes, inférieure à la capacité de conduction ou d'absorption du premier matériau dans cette gamme de fréquences, ledit élément étant disposé de telle manière que la corde est protégée contre tout contact avec le dispositif de fixation. L'invention concerne également l'utilisation dudit procédé sur des guitares, notamment des guitares électriques ou des basses électriques, un chevalet de type nouveau, ainsi qu'une guitare ou basse électrique pourvue d'un tel chevalet.
