A friction hinge is provided, comprising a shaft (1) and a band (3) frictionally wrapped about said shaft, wherein said band is formed with a pair of annular slits (13) for defining a pair of outside annular members (5) and an inside annular finger (15) disposed between said slits, said finger being circularly wrapped about said shaft such that said finger is matingly received within an annular undercut (17) formed along said shaft.
