A compact imaging instrument includes a plurality of instrument heads which are selectively and interchangeably mounted to an instrument body without requiring disassembly thereof. The instrument body includes a hand-holdable portion and directs electrical power therethrough for powering a miniature video camera and illuminating assembly which are retained within at least one of the instrument heads or the instrument body to allow multiple procedures such as otological, and other clinical or industrial examinations, to be interchangeably performed. Preferably, a latching mechanism interconnecting the instrument heads and the instrument body also automatically enables the video camera and/or illumination assembly when an instrument head having either is attached.
La présente invention a pour objet un instrument imageur comportant une pluralité de têtes d'instrument interchangeables sélectivement montées sur le corps de l'instrument sans nécessité le désassemblage de celui-ci. Le corps de l'instrument comporte une partie facilitant le transport à la main qui est traversée par un circuit électrique destiné à l'alimentation d'une caméra vidéo miniature et d'une source d'éclairage qui sont logées soit à l'intérieur d'au moins une des têtes de l'instrument, soit à l'intérieur du corps de l'instrument, de façon à permettre des procédures diverses, tels des examens otologiques et autres examens cliniques ou industriels. De préférence, un mécanisme de verrouillage servant au verrouillage des têtes individuelles au corps de l'instrument déclenche automatiquement le fonctionnement de la caméra vidéo et de la source d'éclairage dès qu'une tête d'instrument logeant une caméra vidéo ou une source d'éclairage est raccordée au corps de l'instrument.
