In order to access computer data on today's vehicles it is known that one needs a connection such as an interface from the diagnostic connector located on a vehicle to another device. This interface could be wireless or a physical cable. This other device could either be a diagnostic reader, scanner or desktop or laptop computer. A vehicle scanner is used in the majority of cases. The connection between the two devices is known as an interface. By using a connection such as this, a person could download or view vehicle data. A person can also provide a vehicle's computer memory with new updates or upload an application. In the most cases the connection between the diagnostic connector and other device is used to access data for analysis and Electronic Control Module(ECM)/ Power Control Module(PCM) or computer updates. This invention will allow an individual to hookup a vehicle's diagnostic connector to a cell or satellite phone. Once a connection is made between the vehicle and phone an application running on the phone allows an individual to select options through a menu to view and/or send vehicle data. The vehicle data can be viewed and/or transferred to a remote system. At this point the cell or satellite phone is now considered a pass- through device. Through an application located on the phone data and applications can also be uploaded to a vehicle from a distant system. The transmission of data from the vehicle can be sent to a service/repair center of your choice through a direct line or Internet. This will help resolve intermittent issues quicker. A vehicle can now be diagnosed while at home, in a remote place or on the road. Provide the vehicle owner with more options when having a vehicle repaired. Multimedia and applications can be uploaded, updated or downloaded to the vehicle from the Internet or direct phone system.
